I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's Degree. I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Spanish. As I began college, I knew that I either wanted to major or minor in Spanish but I was not sure what I was going to do with either. At an early age, my parents instilled in me the importance of being bilingual. This stayed in my mind and after a lot of soul searching, I realized that I enjoyed being around children and learned about Bilingual Education; therefore, I began to inquire about a career in education.
I have been teaching third grade in the Dual Language and Bilingual programs at Herrera Elementary for seven years. I am enjoying teaching Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies this school year. My goal for this year is that the students discover a whole new array of knowledge through reading.
